GRAMMAR SCHOOL (1ST-6TH)

As every shoe-buying parent knows, grades one through six span years of astounding growth! While students lose an entire set of baby teeth, we work hard to help them acquire language mastery.

Latin instruction begins in third grade, laying an invaluable foundation for English grammar and vocabulary, writing, modern languages, science, law, theology, and medicine. Higher standardized test scores may be viewed as icing on the Latin cake. Young students enjoy absorbing all kinds of knowledge through songs, recitation, and games.

As students grow and their minds mature, they will have solid foundation of knowledge on which to build understanding and wisdom.

Classically educated students learn how to think critically and independently, and how to perceive the inter-relatedness of all subjects.

Communication

The school communicates closely with Grammar School students’ parents through the following:

1. The Post is a weekly newsletter emailed to parents.

2. Gradelink is our online student information systems, in which parents may check their children’s grades and attendance, and see information teachers post about specific classes.

3. Communication Folders and Assignment Books – Students take these to and from school daily. Parents may check these to see homework assignments, upcoming tests, and any written parent – teacher communication. Some teachers also email parents a weekly update.

4. Progress Reports are issued mid-quarter to gauge progress by class and subject.

5. Report Cards are released at the end of each Quarter, approximately every nine weeks.

6. Parent Conferences are scheduled before school begins (mandatory), at the end of each quarter as needed, and any other time either the teacher or parent desires.

7. Teacher emails are provided in the Staff Directory. Most also provide a phone number at which students and parents may contact them.
